That is why I am waiting to a ps5 so that I can play games from my favorite system the ps1. If you answer this please don't say it will not be backwards comptibilty with the games from 1 to 3.

Sony have already announced that it will only have legacy support for the PS4 and older games will be available through PlayStation Now.

But that’s not what you want anyone to tell you, so “Yes, it WILL play every game ever made for every PlayStation”. That magically makes it true...

Seriously? You can buy used PS1/PS2/PS3 consoles for peanuts in fully working order. Just use those if you want to play games released for those models. OR buy one of the very earliest PS3 consoles: they effectively contained a PS2 inside and the PS2 could play most PS1 games. But really early PS3s which had that ability are increasingly difficult to find and aren’t very reliable.

Buddy, why don’t you want us to tell you that it’s not backwards compatible when that’s the truth?

Realistic option = The best bet is if the developers of the games created a remaster of the games like what Capcom did with the first few Devil May Cry games & Resident Evil 0, 4 and Remake and Onimusha Warlord by porting them over to the PS3 and PS4. As well as what Square Enix did with Final Fantasy X and X-2 where they ported it in the same manner as Capcom did with DMC. That is essentially your best bet if you wanted to play the older games as they already did that for a few PlayStation games.

2nd Option = Your only other choice is to just buy a Original 20GB & 60GB PS3 that would allow you to just play physical and digital copies of all PS1, PS2 and PS3 games.

3rd option (least realistic) = Wait until Sony & the game developers decided to make digital copies of the game and put it on the PS5’s PlayStation Store. But don’t your breath on this, if they won’t make any of the physical copies of any of the PlayStation games backwards compatible other then the 4th console then chances are, they won’t do the digital form either unless if it’s RE4 or something very popular.

The PS5 will only be backwards compatible with PS4 games only and not from earlier PlayStation models unfortunately.

You can thumb down the answers all you want, but that's not going to magically make Sony change things to make the PS5 play PS1/2/3 games.
Sony's backward compatibility plans are still to make it play most (not all) PS4 games, and that's it. And that's better than their original plan of only 100 or so PS4 games that'd work at launch. So unless the game devs remaster or repackage the games to work on the PS4 or PS5, you're not playing those old games on it.

Some of the original PS1 PS2 and PS3 games are available through the Playstation store on the current gen.

You won't be able to use discs though.

Since the PS4 and PS5 use an x86-64 CPU that's made by the same company...............
If the PS4 isn't backwards compatible then the PS5 won't be!

No.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that PlayStation 5 won't be backwards compatible with PS1, PS2 or PS3 games. PlayStation boss Jim Ryan claimed earlier this week that “99 percent” of PS4 titles can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility.

This is Sony, so of course not. You're better off downloading an emulator and playing games for those systems with that.
