Five ways to increase the rate of a chemical reaction:
1. Increasing the concentration(s) of the reactant(s) in solution
2. Increasing the pressure of gaseous reactant(s)
3. Increasing the surface area for solid reactant(s)
4. Increasing the temperature of reaction
5. Using a catalyst for the reaction

here's 4 ... there are plenty of experts on this blog to add the extra one

Increase reactant concentration
increase temperature
use a catalyst
for gaseous reactions increase the pressure where appropriate

it boils down to 3 things
.. (1) increase the kinetic energy of the reactants
.. (2) increase the # of collisions per unit time
.. (3) change the reaction mechanism or path

increasing temp increases (1)
increasing concentration increases (2)
increasing pressure increases (2)
reducing particle size increases (2)
adding a catalysis effects (3)
