If God is almighty why does he allow violence and pain to exist?

The pain we experience comes from three sources - our own sins, the sins of others, and the laws of nature.  God Himself, during His 33 years on Earth in human form, experienced tremendous pain and violence, even though He never sinned. Why would we expect less?

it's either your understanding of what God is or your understanding of what Almighty means, when you get the right understanding of these words then your question ( confusion ) will be resolved. What the Almighty done was give us commandments, they are commandments to keep us from destroying ourselves, has nothing to do with the Most High God because those things don't exist in His world, it's the world all Christians desire and hope for, as far as pain goes, learn from your mistakes, ( not God's fault ) then help others by not making the same mistake you made, the things that are genetically inherited probably go back to the original source that brought it here to begin with, good luck with figuring that one out, for most other things I would only say God gave you a brain, use it, also I might add, come back to this world of reality we live in and deal with the things we can, there's enough to deal with without blaming a God that is LOVE and a Almighty that is His SON

freedom without consequences is meaningless

He has left a lot to people to settle on their own.  
People have more duties to each other than they imagine.  

God "so loved" the world - already. 
(That means it's over. )
Glory is fleeting, we need to find something new and move on.
Now, it's time for people to reflect that love toward each other - instead of sentimentality and nostalgia.
The problem is that people see the poverty and become scared for themselves.
They think of their relationship as competing in the animal kingdom - lions, oligarchs, and lazy grasshoppers.
