Yes. As has already been said in the answer where they quoted the banner on the UK YA homepage, Verizon Media, NOT Yahoo or Yahoo Answers, has suspended comments on answers. Commenting on news?articles has also been suspended. Most of us?are assuming Verizon Media has done this because of concern. About security of the website around the US presidential election in early November. Yahoo did EXACTLY THE SAME THING in 2016 and 2012 for news articles. That was long before commenting on answers was possible.
Take a look at the Politics subcategory. It is almost entity statements, editorials. insults. threats and racial slurs. There are most NO legitimate questions, and most of those are bait and fish "Gotcha!!!" questions.
ONE or 2 People have posted a screen shot of that banner in their answers to this question.
NONE of us know whether this going to be temporary for 3 or 4 months or permanent. That MIGHT depend on the responses Bverizon Media, NOT YAHOO, gets to the email address
