Volume of the earth, V
= 1.083 × 10¹² km³
= 1.083 × 10¹² × (1 × 10¹⁵) cm³
= 1.083 × 10²⁷ cm³

Mass of the earth, m
= 5.98 × 10²⁷ g

Average density of the earth
= (5.98 × 10²⁷ g) / (1.083 × 10²⁷ cm³)
= 5.52 g/cm³  (to 3 sig. fig.)

ρ=M/V = (5.972 × 10²⁴ kg)*(1000g / 1 kg)/[(1.083 x 10¹² km³)*(1.000 x 10¹⁵ cm³/1 km³)]
ρ= 5.514 g/cm³
