He illustrates his corrective teaching by using the example of young children, who are characteristically modest and free from ambition and who generally have no thought of rank among themselves. Thus Jesus shows that his disciples need to develop these qualities that characterize humble children. As Jesus concludes: “He that conducts himself as a lesser one among all of you is the one that is great.”

Children are innocent, submissive, humble, obedient and trusting towards their parents. So must we be with God.

CHILDREN ARE TRUSTING AND BELIEVE WHAT U SAY. YHVH GOD WANTS PEOPLE SUCH AS THAT TO ENTER HIS KINGDOM. PEOPLE WHO ARE DOUBTERS LIKE THOMAS HAVE TO HAVE THINGS PROVEN TO THEM. FATHER GOD WANTS HIS CHILDREN TO TRUST HIM IMPLICITLY.

Do you remember, when you were a child, when you were troubled about something, and your mom or dad said, "Don't worry, I promise everything will be okay"? And after that you DIDN'T worry. You didn't think about the problem anymore, because your parent said it would be okay. You didn't know HOW it would be okay, BUT YOU KNEW THAT IT WOULD BE, BECAUSE YOU TRUSTED YOUR PARENT.
I'm pretty sure that's what Jesus meant: trusting the Lord as little children trust their parents, that He will handle everything and all we need do is follow His instructions ⛪👑🕊
