You can find guides to the Bible in any Catholic bookstore, which will take you step by step through the Bible as it is interpreted by the Church that compiled the Bible from its own writings, the Church founded by Jesus Christ, to which He promised the fullness of God's truth.

Christians always try to get people to start with the New Testament because they know that it is inconsistent with the Old Testament in many ways.

Christians claim that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, but Jesus does NOT have the attributes of the Messiah (except for being a Jewish man).

"Messiah" means "anointed one", not "savior".  Jews believe that everyone, including gentiles, goes to heaven after a limited period of purification.  The Christian concept of hell does NOT exist in Jewish theology, so there is no hell to be saved from.  Christianity is a solution to a problem that never existed in Judaism.

The Jewish Messiah is supposed to be completely mortal, like Moses, and is to usher in an era of peace on Earth, thus ending persecution of Jews, and allowing the Temple in Jerusalem to be rebuilt.  He has to accomplish this in his one mortal lifetime and he is NOT to be worshiped.

The Christian messiah is a totally bizarre distortion of the original Jewish concept.

It is good for you to learn what the Bible is teaching.

To understand the Bible, we need a help.

The book  "What Does the Bible Really Teach?" is designed to help busy  people to examin the Bible's clear answers to vital questions.  Many of the readers have come to the conclusion: "I have found the truth!"  - John 8:32.

Pray to God for guidance and understanding of His Word The Bible.

That is the first step. Without God guiding your studies in The Bible
you will never truly understand God's Word.

Proverbs 2:6 "For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding."

James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

1 Corinthians 2:14 “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

You read the Bible. It will also be helpful to read up on hermeneutics and how to properly apply this. It also helps to learn how the methods of deceptions work and what they are, so that you recognize when others employ them while trying to get you to believe as they do.

I have always said read John first. it comes after Luke. then start at the beginning but Never Ever do what Christians do and concentrate on Jesus. if you read it carefully you will find it is Gods' diary. there in it are many times God has been born on earth. Get a King James the only Bible that hasn't altered Gods' words.and when you get to all the begat just change the word to born. that way you may not get bored.
Lastly, you write a diary, one of your birthdays is so great you repeat this 4 times in different places. then the diary is lost. hundreds of years later someone finds it and notices that one day repeated. would you expect them to concentrate on that day omitting all the rest. well God gets so angry when people keep on about Jesus.

Jesus instructed His Apostles to teach only what He Himself taught for 3.5 years while on earth: The Gospels of Mark(except 16:9-20) and Matthew. Genesis is good background.
