How Do I use a Microphone Adapter?

I bought a microphone today, but it won't fit into my CD player's mircophone compartment - the hole is too small. I've looked online and seen mircophone adapters, but I don't know if they'll work on a CD player. Please help.

CD players only have headphone jacks or RCA outputs, but not microphone jacks since CD players cannot record sound, which is what a microphone is used for. Microphones may come with 1/4 inch plugs, or 3.5mm plugs. You need to know what size your micorphone plugs are and then the size your sound recorder'
s input jacks before you know what adapter you need.

A CD player won't have any kind of input for a microphone - they don't record sound, they only play CDs.

Assuming your microphone doesn't use three pin XLR connectors it will use either 1/4” or 3.5mm connections. Adaptors are easily obtained. I would assume that you need a mono version  rather than the stereo version used for headphones.

As I say though, a “CD player” won't have a mic input.
