Why catholics change Bible verses and add more books that were never there?

It was the opposite.  The Protestants took them out.

I can tell you're trolling when you say that Catholics "added more books that were never there." Even the brighter fundamentalists know the history of the deuterocanonicals.

Sigh. No one has changed the 10 commandments. They are all there to be read by, yes, even Roman Catholics.  

The various traditions even within Christianity divided the 10 commandments differently (there are about 14 of them, after all); all these divisions are ancient already. See source link below.

You have *add more books* precisely backwards.  For 1500 years, Christianity used the books variously called "Apocrypha", "deuterocanon" ("second list"), "Worthy to be read" and included them in the canon as inspired by God.  It was not until the Puritan strand of Protestant Christianity that Bibles were widely published without them.

The Jewish canon was not settled at the time Christianity separated from it; the various Christian regions organically adopted the Jewish books in use at the time. Thus the Christians in Rome had seven "intertestamental" books regarded as scripture. The Christians the Eastern Mediterranean had a few more for a total of 76. Egypt (Coptic Christianity) had several more yet. This concerned no one, actually. It was what it was. Protestantism decided to to side with Judaism in rejecting books that supported some Christian doctrine. It was a tragedy.

What gave the Puritans the right to reject books used by Christians for a millennium and a half? Such hubris!

Jesus Christ founded one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church the fullness of God's truth until the end of time. The bishops of that one Church, the Catholic Church, at the direction of the Pope, compiled the Bible in the 4'th Century, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, from its own writings (and early Jewish writings), and declares as binding truth that these 73 texts are the inspired Word of God. Therefore God Himself has declared it to be so. And no Christian on Earth thought otherwise until one misguided man, 1,100 years later, thought He could do a better job of interpreting the Bible than God's Church.  He decided to trash 10 books of God's Word that he didn't agree with - 3 New Testament books and 7 Old Testament books. His own flowers were near the point of rebellion over trashing the writings of the Apostles, so he had to back down on the 3 New Testament books. Id He had his way, Protestants today would be using an incomplete Bible of 63 books instead of the incomplete Bible of 63 books they do use. Luther than founded a church, whose teaching H claimed would be based on "the Bible alone", which of course meant his own interpretations of the Bible. Before he died, there were already 7 other Protestant denominations that had separated from his church because they didn't agree with his biblical interpretations. The doctrinal chaos of Protestantism had begun.

Perhaps in mentioning Bible verses changed, you refer to the Ten Commandments. Or perhaps you refer to some places in the Christian Greek Scriptures where the Catholic Bibles – on the subject of lawful divorce - have changed Jesus’ words from sexual immorality being the basis to something else entirely different. Even though the Greek word there is porneia. Catholic Bibles have changed this at Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:3.

As for the Ten Commandments, there appear to be four different ways of numbering the Ten Commandments or Ten Words. The one most widely accepted, the Roman Catholic, the Lutheran, and the Talmudist. Roman Catholic scholar Augustine divided the tenth commandment into two which made up for counting the command against worshiping other gods and against making images and worshiping them as one commandment. This is what the New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967), Vol. 4, page 7, says: “The Christians who follow the tradition of Exodus seek to maintain the tradition of ‘ten’ by splitting the two commandments—Ex 20.3 and Ex 20.4-6—by what is considered as one commandment by the tradition of the [Roman Catholic Church], namely, Dt 5.7-10. Such a split is considered to represent the more original form of the Decalogue. . . . This opinion, that Ex 20.4a was originally a separate commandment, seems to be a satisfactory solution, especially if it is maintained that it represents a prohibition against making idols of Yahweh, since it would then conform to the nature of apodictic law by regulating a matter different from that of the first commandment.”

As for the Apocrypha, Catholics refer to them as deuterocanonical, meaning of “the second (or later) canon.” But these books were never included in the Jewish canon. Evidence dates the Apocrypha to no earlier than the second or third century B.C.E. But the closing of the Hebrew canon dates to the fifth century B.C.E. In other words, the Hebrew canon was closed – after the writing of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Malachi, - 200 to 300 years before the Apocrypha came on the scene.  How then could the Apocrypha be canonical? Moreover, the internal contents of the Apocrypha serve to evince their non-canonicity.

They have no divine authority to add books or to change verses.

The Roman Catholic Church believes they are the ultimate authority as to what should be in the Bible. These "additional writings", aka the Apocrypha, were canonized into the Bible in the 1500's, in response to the Reformation. Some of their dogma, doctrine and tradition are based on them...  of course they will include them in their version of the Bible. FYI - Jerome when translating the Latin Vulgate and Luther when he was making a German translation both questioned these writings and their being included in their work for the RCC.

The Catholic Church is entirely responsible for the composition of the Bible, which books are included, as well as the breakup of the chapters and verses. Protestants have removed some books of the Bible because some of the verses were inconsistent with their theology. Martin Luther was a prime offender in this regard, removing Tobit, Judith, 1 and 2 Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach and Baruch. He also made an effort to remove James and Revelations, but this was rejected by his followers and those two books were kept. Catholics are often accused of "adding" the books, but despite this common belief, it is false. Older, pre-Protestant, Catholic translations of the Bible include them.

Revelation 22:18, 19 says: "If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things that are written about in this scroll."
