Look up "fear" in the dictionary, and you will see that one of the definitions is "profound reverence and awe". That's the definition that is being used when the Bible speaks of "fear of the Lord".
If I were not an atheist, I would probably be terrified of it. It promises to hurl people into a hot fiery pit of eternal loving suffering.

The Hebrew and Greek words for fear can mean both godly reverence and human fear....primarily to reverence God himself, and to fear his judgment.
Psalm 119:120 KJV — My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.
We are commanded throughout scripture to fear God and his judgment.....
Leviticus 25:17 KJV — Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 6:13 KJV — Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
Deuteronomy 6:24 KJV — And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
Ecclesiastes 8:12 KJV — Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV — Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Revelation 14:7 KJV — Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
No but fear what he can do with storms, earthquakes and other world disasters.. He does not want you to fear him/
It's a term used by religious people to put fear into people to control them.
It's a wholesome fear that means that we don't want to disappoint or become unapproved by God. He is a loving God and does not rule by fear but of respect.
FEAR he not the one who can destroy the flesh,but HE who can destroy the soul.
That is expressed in Eccl. 12:13.
It is the fear of sin that God gives.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Is fear the only reason to be religious?
