Why is Jesus always being depicted as a blue eyed white man when He was a middle eastern Jew?

Just more of the fraudulent "used car sales" crap you find in christianity.
jesus would have looked more like Osama bin Laden than anyone else.
But that doesn't sell and get butts into pews.  So what do they do?
Make him look like some fair-haired surfer boy. What goddam nonsense!
And, to boot --- jesus is a fictional character!!

European religious artist painted Jesus to look European.

Jesus is portrayed differently in different cultures.

Jesus was a Jew. Technically, middle easterners are white. Not nordic white. But Mediterranean white. You seem to have a narrow definition of whiteness. 

Why do Afro-centrists think Jesus looked like Cro-magnon? 

Tradition started  with Renaissance artists  who did not use history

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28).

16"Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer. 17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come." (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).

Jesus showed us a glimpse of His true 'face' on the mount of transfiguration when a small group of His disciples witnessed His glory. This is the state which all humans will likewise attain if they remain faithful to His Covenant of universal forgiveness and cross-tribal brotherhood 'to the end'; a state which 'shines' with the full potential of what mankind is meant to be. 

Each of the depictions of Jesus which inspire men throughout history are part of this 'glory' along with all that this inspiration accomplishes. To experience and contemplate it all simultaneously is what His disciples 'glimpsed' when He appeared to be bathed in an inapproachable light and its full expression will be what the entire world witnesses when He returns to rule the nations with equality and perfect justice. 
Any 'false' depictions can also be known by their social effects. They typically inspire very little or only manage to inflame culture wars over ethnicity, class or gender. These Jesus called 'false Christs' while warning us of their arrival. 

 15“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16“You will know them by their fruits." (Matthew 7:15-16).

I think to make him more appealing to white Europeans.

While the Word of God says

"Then I lifted up mine eyes, and look, and behold a certain man, clothed in linen, whose lions were girded with fine gold of U'phaz; His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in color to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude" (Daniel 10:5-6).

"And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters" (Revelation 1:13-15)!

From where I'm sitting, that looks Black to me!

Yet Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Modern Jews sometimes have blue eyes (Ashkenazi, who emigrated to Germany, and bred with the locals (who had been invaded by blond Vikings centuries before)).  Jewish DNA is a scrambled mix of many races.  Back then, Jesus likely looked like Arabs (who were also Semitic).
