Why are large corporations doing left-wing PR stunts, even when it will hurt their short and long term sales? ?

2020-06-20 7:01 pm
For example:

1) The mortgage company fired the mom of Garrett Rolfe, simply for being his mom, and then they publicly made excuses about “diversity and inclusion”.

Because of this, they are going to lose business and they may even face (and obviously lose) a multi-million dollar lawsuit.

2) Aunt Jemima, Uncle Bens, Land O Lakes, and similar brands are voluntarily removing their images and giving impassioned (but financially foolish) PC reasons for doing so.

Because of this, they are going to lose a lot of money long-term because they are going to lose their familiar icon and they are going to get less sales at grocery stores. They’re also pissing off both conservatives, AND the blacks and Indians who might actually want their people to remain on the cover/label.

3) Chick-Fil-A’s owner telling white people to “wash a black person’s feet if they ask” and saying “we are shameful until we apologize”. 76% of Americans are white, and around 85% of Chick-Fil-A’s customers are white. This latest stunt is undoubtedly going to hurt the brand. Being OK with gay marriage probably didn’t hurt Chick-fil-A, but having the audacity to try to shame all whites, is definitely going to hurt their business financially.

4)  There are a ton of other examples.

Here’s what I don’t understand. Even if these companies were doing the morally right thing, (and arguably they aren’t), these companies have a long track record of making wise and intelligent decisions that will make them more money.

(CONTINUED)  I don’t understand why these companies are making decisions that will obviously hurt them financially, when these same companies have a long track record of making smart and economical decisions. This begs the question… Are they being PAID to do this, by globalist organizations, George Soros, the democrat party, etc? How else would it benefit them to do this?

I think it would be great to see just one company not capitulate to the virtue signalling.  Just one.   Leftists know that no company wants to be anywhere nearby when they start handing out charges of racism.   Oh, and silence earns you the charge, too.   Just put up the inclusive statement and pray that's enough.

They aren't doing it willingly.  They are being forced to do these things by idiots.  Remember Speedy Gonzales?  He is a beloved Mexican icon that offends nobody but is banned only in America for being a racial stereotype.  Stupid people are the causes of all the problems in the world.

You know these corporations have teams of well paid experts that do nothing but research how these moves will effect the bottom line,,, but obviously you know more that they do.

Right, because you know so much more than the entire host of Harvard MBAs they've got working for them with all their hard data and market research instead of flimsy, unfounded opinions. Do you know why your breath always smells like farts? Because you're always talking out of your @ss.

P.S. Learn what "begs the question" means because it does NOT mean raise the question or demand the question be asked.

UPDATE:

Ana, re your comment, that's not true. Do you paranoiacally fantasize that Harvard only admits people from cities and doesn't admit droves of students from suburbs and rural areas? But even if it were true, why do you assume the majority of their customers live outside cities when the majority of America lives in cities? Again, you are making assumptions without foundation, so your conclusions hold no water.

I think you're wrong about it hurting sales.   Here's why.

Those of us who are not on the rabid left just roll our eyes at the BS pandering in which companies are engaging.   Result - no lost sales from regular folks.

However, if the companies * didn't * engage in the BS pandering, they would be targeted by SJW progressive thugs and identified as "racist".   You know what these companies want?   To stay of of the SJW thug's spotlight or get out of it as soon as possible.   So, they slap an empty slogan on their webpage and social media, hoping the leftists will move on to another target.

In short, companies likely don't lose customers due to ridiculous pandering and they know ridiculous pandering will head the SJW thugs off at the pass.   The decision is easy.

Because they believe that theres more people who agree with these idiot rioters ( note rioters not protesters).  When there just a very small group of people.  The biggest majority of the country feel differently.

They're trying to look progressive so that they can make more money, simple as that.

It's easier to sue a company for workplace discrimination if they don't constantly show how not racist they are.

It is always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
  To call upon a neighbour and to say: --
"We invaded you last night--we are quite prepared to fight,
  Unless you pay us cash to go away."

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
  And the people who ask it explain
That you've only to pay 'em the Dane-geld
  And then you'll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
  To puff and look important and to say: --
"Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
  We will therefore pay you cash to go away."

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
  But we've proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
  You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
  For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
  You will find it better policy to say: --

"We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
  No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
  And the nation that pays it is lost!"

For #1 unless they broke a contract they won't lose a lawsuit. Georgia is an at will state.

Most of these companies won't lose money. There are wayyy more liberals in the us than conservatives. They have people that know a lot more than you about these decisions making them. They wouldn't make them if it would lose them money in the long run.

Because they are frightened children afraid of the big loud black sociopaths that would shame them.  The Chick-fil-a stuff comes from the bible, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples as a sign of humility.  I'll wash some n*s feet when Corporate CEOs get on their knees and blow n*s.
