Of course it is.  It was more likely an account of a local event, NOT a global one, that happened.  The story just got embellished and grew in the telling over time.  All branches of science have already disproved a global flood many times over already.  Read a real book.  Get educated.

There are no myths in the Bible.  The Bible is historical, prophetic, educational, lyrical, and allegorical.

Not entirely:

There was NO GLOBAL FLOOD: There over 25 million people left on earth after Noah's flood: Abraham had over 300 servants, and fought armies of thousands, who had not been destroyed in Noah's flood. The old testament is the history of the Israelites, not the world.
The floods were periodic occurrences in the Mesopotamia when the four rivers there overflowed.

When writing the history of the Israelites, the Hebrew writers were unable to reconstruct the lineage of all their ancestors so they used the flood story to avoid the task.

Let's just say that unless you believe magic to be real, the story does not fall into the category of plausible realities.

TO many who have not touch or have not seen is a myth, until it is proven.

yes, and it was more than a flood.  God ripped continents apart and held the little ark above the waters and by making the water vapor come down to earth there was more sea than land.  So people could get away from a terrible ruler.  They feared another flood so much that they build the parymides to escape the flood waters in every continient.

It is a story with little or no basis in fact. It is not written as an allegory and other parts of the Bible refer to it as a real event. On the other hand, such an event as described would have left lasting, unmistakable evidence not only in geology, but in genetics as well and none of this evidence, or anything close to it, exists. Further, there are multiple problems with the story, like a wooden structure like the ark would have been torn apart by the flooding, would have needed to be constantly bailed out before it sank.  There are many more problems when we look into the logistics, sanitation and animal care areas.

It is not a myth, though often misunderstood.  Obviously a flood could not cover the whole world, as we understand that term today. To understand something written several thousand years ago, we have to consider what various terms meant to the writer in that time and place. When someone living n the Mediterranean area 4,000 years ago wrote "the whole world", he obviously was not thinking of North and South America, Australia, or Asia, since he didn't have a clue that such places existed. He probably didn't even know about northern Europe or southern Africa. The "whole world" he knew to exist was the area around the Mediterranean and Red Seas, and that was the location of the great flood. The inland, elevated Black Sea is a remnant of that great flood.
