The bible says "honour thy mother and father", but what if your parents want you to disobey God?

Luke 14:26. "“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.
"

You can give them an appropriate degree of honor without disobeying God in the process. Some people are easy to honor, some less so. In any case, we can only do our best, but we shouldn't give up on them entirely. God hasn't given up on them.

"Children obey your parents in the Lord.", Eph. 6:1.

UNTIL the time of reason is accomplish.

In that case it's different. Acts 5:29 says: “We must obey God as ruler rather than men."

Jesus says to 'love thy neighbor as thyself'... but what if you are a sadomasochist?

I love the scripture that says "children be obedient to your parents, in union with the Lord, for this is righteous." Ephesians 6:1. The parents if they live under the authority of God would make this command easy for their children to obey. Children respond well to loving parents who don't have hypocritical standards. As christians, we understand that Absolute obedience goes to God. God is the ultimate judge and Lawgiver.

Honour in this instance means respect and regard.

You don't do anything that is against God, yes, we honor our mother and father but we don't show more love to mother or father, brother or sister, son or daughter, than to God and his Son.
