Most people seem to miss these, and it would not even surprise me if your answer key had it wrong.

(16x⁸y¹²)^(1/4) × (3xy³)
= 2x²|y³| × (3xy³)
= 6x³|y³|y³
= 6x³y⁶sgn(y)

The hard part is with (y¹²)^(1/4), which cannot be negative even if y is negative. That is why it simplifies to |y³| rather than y³.
