The integrated rate law for the first order reaction:
ln([A]/[A]ₒ) = -kt
ln(0.200/0.500) = -(1/8.00)t
-(1/8.00)t = ln(0.4)
t = -8.00 ln(0.4)
Time taken = 7.33 units

If the unit of k is /s, time taken = 7.33 s
If the unit of k is /min, time taken = 7.33 min
etc.
