A cannon is fired at a 15o angle from the horizontal. The cannon has a mass of 200. kg. The cannonball has a mass of 8. kilograms. The cannon has a recoil of 1.2 m/s left when fired.

A) Determine the initial velocity of the cannonball.
B) What is the maximum height the cannonball will reach?
C) How long does it take to reach the ground?
D)How far will it travel?

conservation of momentum
mV = mV
assuming the recoil is in the direction of the cannonball.
200•1.2 = 8V
V = 30 m/s

If the recoil velocity is horizontal, that is Vcos15 where V is the total recoil velocity
Vx = 1.2 = Vcos12
V = 1.23 m/s
V (cannonballO = 200•1.23/8 = 30.75 m/s

given the above uncertainty, I'll not go any further.
