Charcoal is the best. You get that good smoky flavor and feel like your actually BBQing

Neither one is "best". It's all about choice. Electric is probably the best for clean up because you just need to clean the cooker. The footprint (size) is the smallest of all of them. With propane you need to refill the gas tank and clean the equipment. The footprint is the smoker itself and the tank. Both require a burn box for wood chips to provide a smoked BBQ flavor. Along with the charcoal, you also need wood chunks. The footprint depends on the type of smoker you want. I have a 22.5" Weber Smoky Mountain. It's small but tall. Then there's the storage of charcoal and wood to think about. But it also has a larger cooking area. You also have more to clean up (and dispose of ash), but IMO, gives a greater smoke experience and flavor. Choices also come into play depending where you live. If you live in an apartment, a charcoal is forbidden. You might be able to get away with a propane one (I did the last time I lived in an apartment. But the electric one would be best for the balcony since it just plugs in like a radio. LOL!
I hope this helps.
