Chemistry Help 2 Parts?
Part 1: Write the equation for the dissolution of each
of the following in water, and then indicate the
total number of moles of solute ions formed.
a. 0.374 mol potassium sulfide
Answer in units of mol.
Part 2: 0.114 mol aluminum sulfate
Answer in units of mol.
回答 (1)
Part 1:
K₂S(s) → 2K⁺(aq) + S²⁻(aq)
Each mole of K₂S contains 3 moles of ions (2 moles of K⁺ and 1 mole of S²⁻).
Total number of moles of solute ions = 0.374 × 3 mol = 1.12 mol

Part 2:
Al₂(SO₄)₃(s) → 2Al³⁺(aq) + 3SO₄²⁻(aq)
Each mole of Al₂(SO₄)₃ contains 5 moles of ions (2 moles of Al³⁺ and 3 moles of SO₄²⁻).
Total number of moles of solute ions = 0.114 × 5 mol = 0.570 mol
(to 3 sig. fig.)
