You know the energy absorbed by the bread. Call that E.

2*E = 0.4kg * 4186J/kg·ºC * (T - 4ºC)
using the specific heat of water. If you have a different specific heat for milk, use that instead.

Solve for T.

The answer should be lower (in fact, MUCH lower) than 50ºC since water has a higher specific heat than almost everything. If you're getting something on the order of 190ºC then you are making an error somewhere.

energy = mass of bread * specific heat of bread * (50C -4C).  What are you told to use for a specific heat of the bread?  For the milk (next problem), you can likely assume it's the same as water if you aren't given another to use.

Using the energy from above

2 * energy from above = mass of milk * specific heat of milk * temperature change.
add the temperature change to the starting temperature, 4C
