護照與回港證有什麼異同?

香港特別行政區回港證是簽發給香港居民， 作往返內地及澳門特別行政區之用。

護照是出國用。

兩 者 都 是 香 港 居 民 的 外 遊 證 件，分 別 是：
1. 回 港 證 是 給 已 取 得 香 港 居 留 權 或 已 獲 准 在 香 港 不 受 條 件 限 制 居 留 的 中 國 公 民 ； 或 已 獲 准 在 香 港 不 受 條 件 限 制 居 留 ， 但 無 法 取 得 任 何 國 家 的 護 照 或 其 他 地 區 的 旅 行 證 件 的 非 中 國 籍 人 士，並 只  限 往 返 內 地 及 澳 門 之 用。
2. 特 區 護 照 是 給 在 香 港 或 中 國 其 他 地 區 出 生 ， 並 具 有 中 國 血 統 的 香 港 永 久 居 民 往 返 外 國 之 用。

Similarities - they are issued by the Immigration Department, to Hong Kong Residents with unrestricted right only, and are considered travel document.

Differences:

1. Re-entry permit is not a passport. So it can only be used with Mainland and Macau trips only. It is not an international travel document.

2. Passport costs more than a re-entry permit.

3. Only a Chinese (Hong Kong) citizen can obtain the passport.

4. The passport holder must have a HKID, regardless of ages.
