Are they a new kind of nursing or equivalent healthcare professional? How long have these training courses for this profession been around and what is the difference between these and theatre nurses etc?

Operating department practitioner is another name for a surgeon and aesthetic etc is someone who has done a medical degree and then specialised in anaesthetics which both take around 7 years and a theatre nurse is a qualified nurse who done further training in the theatre which is a 3 year degree. Some general nurses also do theatre work as my daughter is a nurse and has done theatre work which she did not like and now a community nurse.
