Each shape can all be split into either:
- 2 rectangles or
- a triangle plus a rectangle.

Area of a triangle = ½ * base * height
Area of a rectangle = length * width

For example first shape can be be split into:

triangle: base =  9in. + 20in. + 9in. = 38in.; height = 30in.
area =  ½ * 38 * 30 = 570 sq.in.

rectangle: length = 20in.; width = 20in. (i.e. a square)
area = 20 * 20 = 400 sq. in.

Total area = 570 + 400 = 970 sq. in.

Once you understand that, the rest should be easy for you to do for yourself.
