Why are people panic buying on toilet paper during this coronavirus? Can someone please explain?

I find it ridiculous that every toilet paper shelf in every supermarket are stripped empty and that's why I always buy a pack whenever they get more in even if I don't need it since they all just get bought within minutes!

Because they're idiots. Really, that is the basic point here.

The other people are buying tp they don't need yet for the same reason you are buying tp you don't need yet.

There is no logical explanation. Hopefully 6 months from now people will look at their stash of toilet paper and think "WTF was I thinking?"
