Why do people keep claiming the mortality rate among confirmed cases is over 3 percent in the U.S.?

Any death rate published before the data is more comprehensive will be inaccurate.

Yes there are people with a November agenda on their minds. They know that Biden cannot defeat Trump, only a virus can. That is why a newscaster said "We might as well call it the Trump Virus".

Can you site a source? I haven't heard anyone claim that is the death rate in the United States.  

I think it depends, are they prefacing it with "globally" or "in the USA?"  Globally, the death rate is about 3.5%. 

It's because they haven't done enough testing to get a better idea of how many people have it. It looks like NY will be having quite a few deaths because of the shortage of ventilators.

I do not think it is political....just stupidity. 1.4 is bad enough and folks scary others is dumb. If 250 million Americans got it, we would lose 3 million plus according to that but I highly doubt that would happen.  I suspect the actual mortality rate is actually much lower like around .9  as many have had it and survived and probably didn't even know it. When a serology test comes out we should be able to do an epidemiological study of that using that data. I was as sick as a dog for almost 4 weeks starting in mid February with all symptoms of Coronavirus, I had my Flu shot but my doctor said it was probably just a cold or a different strain of flu and they send me Zithromax(z-pak) and an albuterol inhaler. I never had a cold last that long or the flu because I get my flu shot every year. turns out they now use the Zithromax and another drug together to help coronavirus patients....it helped me so maybe I had it. I would be relieved if I did.

The Media in cooperation with certain Political factions have actually been openly & quite-deliberately disseminating both information & misinformation specifically designed to Freak People Out to suit a Political agenda without even bothering to Try hiding or denying it. 

And, it's certainly No secret that the DHS in cooperation with the department of health, CDC , certain classified committees in the House & Senate and even the FCC & Executive branch have long been in the business of studying certain potential  emergency scenarios and working out all manor of alternative options, contingencies & redundancies.

Witch would of course include but not be limited to either withholding or manipulating certain types of information disseminated to the Public.

So, how much have you really enjoyed seeing Prophesies of Gloom & Doom from Media & certain Political Leaders?

I mean really,,, they've literally been shouting from the rooftops "PEOPLE ARE GONNA DIE" ,, ' It's Armageddon'  "It's the End of the World as we Know it" ect ect ..blah blah blah!

And, the media &  political factions don't appear to even consider dialing it back just a little during a frkn "Global Pandemic" for Christ's Sake! 

Thus, It's rather impossible to just look at the news & know with any degree of certainty what's really going on in the U.S.A.                                                                                                     Especially with the Damned Media telling everybody Not to believe half of anything the Government says!


So, I don't know how things are playing-out at ground-level in  the U.S. Homeland.

But since I'm currently riding things out in a 3rd-World country here on the "ASIAN" side of the planet where things are getting damned close to frkn Medieval & they haven't even gotten around to declaring Martial Law,,,,yet,,
Then if your Government tells you  Not to bother stocking-up on a year's supply of TP and just focus on food & soap and stay Home, frankly I think it's probably ok to take them seriously.

But it's naive to expect them to be entirely forthcoming about Mortality Statistics until they can also announce that the worst of the crisis has already passed, rather than risk having to deal with hysterical mobs raiding stores & hijacking supply trucks!   

Basically, governors in the United States, look at how overwhelmed Italian health care resources are fast getting---and of course, they understandably fear that happening to THEIR particular states.

That is why, at this time, they ask WE THE PEOPLE at least try the preventative measures of:

1) Increased hand washing both at home and out ( especially IF using public restrooms, where use of hand gloves are highly suggested; otherwise, use paper towels to handle sink faucets and exiting door handles.  )

2) CDC experts are of the opinion the standard "medical" face masks really don't prevent airborne disease transmission---but if they make you feel comfortable, then use them.

3) Otherwise, BE CIVIL and maintain at least 6 feet distance from others. If you cough or sneeze, do so in your elbow or use a disposable paper towel or Kleenex. 

4) DO NOT PANIC SHOP GROCERY STORES: You only WORSEN THE PROBLEMS HERE. There is ZERO CHANCE STREETS WILL BE CLOSED DOWN BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OR NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS. This IS America--NOT some foreign or third world country. 

Currently at this time, ALL 50 U.S. States are projecting the ALL CLEAR could come by Easter IF WE AMERICANS WORK TOGETHER WITH GREAT DEGREES OF CALM COMMON SENSE AND CIVILITY TOWARDS EACH OTHER.

To me the question thus far has been what the media's motivation is for all of this.

I think that a new "power" has emerged, and maybe the media is ran by a specific group that wants to see just what it can do when it decides to do it... i.e. cause panic and make people empty shelves of essential things that should be evenly distributed... and so maybe? Maybe... the creation of socialism...

There are so many ways to theorize this thing right now.
