A fiction invented by crooked Roman politicians to gain power and control.
Oddly, it worked then, as it works now.
Proving Mr. Barnum was very correct.

He’s my God.

Fictional.  People ignore the fact that everything Jesus did was also claimed to have been done by every other messiah claimant.

Just a character in an old book of poorly written, sophomoric fiction.

Edit - Give an example?  Sure.  Page one of the bible.

Scriptures support 4 key claims of Christ:
Jesus said to him,
       "I am the way,
        and the truth,
        and the life;
    no one comes to the Father but through Me.
    (John 14:6, NASB)

These have all been proven and revealed to me and millions of others. As a Savior of my soul He is the way. As the definition of truth He is the essence of it; as to new life with association to life, He is the vine and I am a branch. And the final claim He has brought me to the Father into oneness with the Father as a child of God.

He is both Lord, Shepherd, and Savior. His name is wonderful.

For the first third of my life I thought He was a good man, historical, and had come from Heaven to give a chance to people to earn God's approval. For the second third of my life I had the revelation the apostle Peter had as described in Matthew 16:13-18, discovering Jesus to be the Christ, the Son of the living God, and when I confessed Him to be such, I then entered into membership of the Church that Jesus Christ builds, which the gates of Hades cannot overcome. For the present third of my life I am discovering awesome depths of significance to this One being the only-begotten Son (i.e. not created), the Word of God who was with God in the beginning, who IS God, and who made everything that was made (John 1:1-14).

This combines to ensure that I view Jesus as "my all in all", so that I live for Him and (if necessary) to die for Him. I am in Him - I am in the beloved - and words cannot do justice to describing such a miracle of grace.

Jesus was the only - begotten Son of God , the only Son produced by Jehovah alone. The first born of all creation. Was he just a good man of a prophet he was much more he was a savior and a king, read John 17:3  and John 3:16, John 20:31also Matthew 20:28 , Acts 16:30,31. He also left a commission for his followers to do at Matt 28:19,20

I think there was a real person who was nailed to a cross and survived.  I think many already-existing myths were attributed to him, like this one:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dying-and-rising_deity

Jesus is very precious to Jehovah. Why? Because God created him before everything and everyone else. So Jesus is called “the firstborn of all creation.”* (Colossians 1:15) Jesus is also precious to Jehovah because he is the only one Jehovah created directly. That is why he is called the “only-begotten Son.” (John 3:16) Jesus is also the only one Jehovah used to create all other things. (Colossians 1:16) And only Jesus is called “the Word,” because Jehovah used him to give messages and instructions to angels and humans.—John 1:14.

A fictional character based on a conflation of a number of people that lived in Roman Palestine.

While it's entirely possible that a man named 'Jesus' (or some variation on that name) lived at roughly the time and place that the bible claims, may have preached some variation on the belief system that is attributed to him, and may have run afoul of religious/political leaders of the time - there is no reason to believe any of the supernatural claims regarding his birth, death, or other abilities have any basis in reality.

The gospels were written decades after the life, death, and supposed 'resurrection' of Jesus, by anonymous authors, and describe events which the writers they have been attributed to (but that most bibles even admit were probably not the actual writers) would not have witnessed first hand.

Given that people throughout history are prone to making up and exaggerating events - I would say that it's just as possible that 'Jesus' is just a character in a story.  The tiny shreds of extra-biblical 'evidence' that believers will point to in order to make the case for a historical 'Jesus' are scant (at best) and even the ones that *might* be  considered reliable sources make zero claims of Jesus' supposed 'divinity'.

A good man, indeed. Special, possessing unusual, incredible powers unlike anything seen in medicine, science or technology. Saw the good in everyone, looking right through them and loved them. The only human in history ever to walk the earth with a literal piece of God in him, allowing him to perform miracles.

HE WAS THE WALKING WORD OF GOD WHEN HUMAN...HE IS PART OF THE TRINITY!!
2020-03-10 11:11 pm
Not my thoughts, it's what the Bible tells us.  Jesus is the only begotten son of God before he came down to earth to be incarnated into the body of Mary by the Holy Spirit to become human.  When you can discern the true meaning of the word of God everything becomes clear and leave no room for doubts and disputations of what's in the Bible.

Fictional character, quite clearly.

Peter answered CHRIST, not Jesus. Peter was the only one who knew the difference between Jesus and CHRIST.

MATT: 16:13.... Whom do men say that I the [SON OF MAN] am?
1. Jesus confesses he is the son of man. Peter doesn't response to Jesus.
2. CHRIST asked, through Jesus, but whom say ye that I am? Peter responds to CHRIST, not to Jesus; "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the LIVING God". Peter uses the word 'LIVING' to indicate that SONS OF GOD don't die.
(A) Jesus is the son of man.
(B) Christ is the son of God.
(C) Christ lived in Jesus as Christ can live in us.

God the Son.

Jn 1:In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus was a man who loved people and cared for them. He was kind and easy to talk to. Even children liked to be with him.(Mark 10:13-16) Jesus was always fair. He hated corruption and injustice. (Matthew 21:12,13) He lived in a time where women didn't have many rights and where not treated with respect. But Jesus always treated woman with respect and dignity. (John 4:9,27) Jesus was truly humble. For example, one evening he washed the feet of his apostles, something that was normally done by a servant. -John 13:2-5, 12-17.  Jesus knew what people really needed, and he wanted to help them. This was very clear when he used God's power to heal people miraculously.(Mathew 14:14) For example, a man with leprosy came to Jesus and said:" If you just want, you can make me clean." Jesus was moved by this man's pain and suffering. he felt sorry for him and wanted to help him. So Jesus starched out his hand, touched the man, and said to him: "I want to! Be maid clean." And the sick man was healed! (Mark 1:40-42) Can you imagine how that man must have felt?  JESUS IS THE MASSIAH, JESUS WAS AN ANGEL BEFOR HE CAME TO THE EARTH , JESUS LOVES PEOPLE ,JESUS ALWAYS DOSE GOS'S WILL.

Since you ask I think he is a fictional character.  He supposedly lived during the time of the Roman Empire ruled the middle east.  The Romans were meticulous record keepers and if someone strolled around raising the dead, turning water into wine, curing diseases, and whipping the "money changers" there would be some mention of it someplace.  If that person existed he would be listed in a census and his execution would be recorded.  Rising from the dead would make the headlines.

A poorly-developed character in horribly awful fiction.

My thoughts don't matter..what matters is what the Bible says and how accurately historical evidence supports his existence.  First, the Bible clearly identifies Jesus Christ as the SON of God, not God himself.  In John 14:28, Jesus even said the Father is greater than I, so there should be no confusion on the relationship.  Jesus left his pre-human existence by God's side to be born as a perfect human on earth....how and why?  Galatians 4:4 indicates that at God's appointed time, He arranged for his son to be born of a woman.  That means God transferred the life force of his son, Jesus, into the womb of Mary, guiding its development and keeping him safe from any imperfections a regular human could possibly be exposed to.  Hence he was born as a perfect man.............no other human besides the first man, Adam, has been a perfect human.  Why is this significant?  Well it explains why Jesus came to earth to offer up his life in our behalf.  A perfect man, Adam, sinned and lost the opportunity for the human family to live as perfect humans, the way God originally intended as outlined in the book of Genesis.  Adam's perfect life was lost and it would take another perfect human to offer up the value of that perfect life in exchange for us.  John 3:16 says it was done out of God's love for us!!  Romans 3:23 says 'the wages of sin is death'.......we're all sinners so we are all deserving of death. But when Jesus died and offered himself up as a perfect human sacrifice, he was able to redeem us out of the unavoidable fate of death.  John 3:16 indicates we need to exercise faith in that sacrifice.  This is truly why Jesus can be referred to as the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived!  Happy to provide more info.

When I first became a christian in the assemblies of God church many years ago I didn't know Jesus was God in the flesh.

I don't recall any church sermons or bible study groups ever bringing up the topic of Christ's deity -- I was only in the AOG for less than 2 years but you would think an important doctrine like that would be discussed.

I knew he was my Lord and Saviour and that he died for my sins (1Cor 15;1-4) but really that was it.

Funny enough when I decided to leave the AOG I ended up reading a AOG articles of faith statement given to me 2 years earlier which stated Jesus was God.  Why was this never said in the church to the congregation???  Anyway later when I joined a independent evangelical church I ended up fully understanding who Christ was --- God manifest in the flesh who was our creator (John 1:13,14, Col 1:16-17, & 1Tim 1:16)

If Jesus is anything less than God then he doesn't deserve to be our Lord and Saviour --- in fact --  him dying on the cross and coming back to life wouldn't be a big deal because other people died in the bible and rose from the dead like his friend Lazarus.

But Jesus being God in the flesh and raising himself from the dead all makes perfect sense to me.

1"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.

7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.

8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.

16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

18 To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19 The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.

20 Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

21 Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul" (Psalm 103)!
