A proton with a mass of 1.67x10^(-27) kg is released from rest from the positive plate in a parallel plate apparatus. If the voltage applied to the plates is 350 V, determine the velocity of the proton just before it hits the negative plate.

Potential is (potential) energy per unit charge, so the proton trades its PE for
KE = 350J/C * 1.6E-19C = 5.6E-17 J
so
5.6E-17 J = ½mv² = ½ * 1.67E-27kg * v²
means that
v = 2.59E5 m/s

velocity of proton v= sq.root ( 2Ve/ m ) = sq.root ( 2x350x1.6x10’-19 / 1.67x10’-27 ) = 2.6x105 m/sec.
