Where do you get that kung fu is BS? And what method of kung fu at that? You couldn't possibly mean all of them... if you do, then you're as misinformed as those who herald Bruce Lee as the greatest fighter of all time.
Because that's how he was portrayed in the movies.
Bruce Lee is hyped. The ignorant masses believe anything they read that is sensationalistic and emotionally-stirring. The media exists to earn or con much money. It will thus praise highly any product or person it is paid well to praise. As a result, many things and people are enormously overrated, e.g. Bruce Lee in martial arts, Muhammad Ali in boxing, Arnold Schwarzenegger in bodybuilding, Rolex in watches, Glock in pistols. etc., etc.! Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee has a fortune of $10,000,000. Creating hoaxes is part of becoming a millionaire for her. Many claims about Bruce Lee are impossible and comically absurd. Some deluded drones claim Bruce Lee was superhuman and a genetic freak. Objective studies demolish these absurd hoaxes. He was not strong. There many men faster than he was. The obvious answer why he refused to compete in adult martial arts championships is that he could not bear to lose, even in scripted movie fights. His excuses for not competing are lame. Yip Man said that Bruce Lee was too egotistical and immature to learn Wing Chun properly. He was immature and egotistical all of his short life that ended on July 20,1973. Incidentally, he was born November 27, 1940.
Most people believe lots of crap. Bruce's daughter Shannon and widow Linda have developed a business that uses silly hoaxes about Bruce. Some of these tales turn a ordinary man into a superman. Some are clearly BSPhD (bullshit piled higher and deeper). Lots of things and people are greatly overrated. Bruce refused to compete in martial arts championships and made feeble excuses for it. He was said to have some street fights, but nobody knows any precise details about them. He had a famous fight with Wong Jack Man. Each side tells a different story, and there's no way to be sure of learning which was true or mostly true. Bruce's skill has a very weak foundation. When we look at it objectively, we see such a mistaken opinion is the result of some people mindlessly believing all of the silly hoaxes about Bruce.
To me, he was not the "greatest fighter of all time", and others shouldn't think that either. What Bruce Lee was was a martial philosopher. He broke the mold of the traditional martial arts bickering of "my kung fu is better than yours". He saw a lot of waste in kung fu arts, and he cut that waste out and kept what he liked to use. That does not mean he kept the "best" of the arts, rather he kept what he liked best for his personal art. Bruce figured out that there is no best art, only best artists. He saw the development of attributes being more important than the development of forms.
Bruce wasn't the best fighter, he was very good. Bruce tried to teach people to create THEIR art, not just copy someone else's art. Martial philosophy.
This is just what he means to me and what I think he was trying to teach. I didn't know him, and I'm not a Bruce Lee historian. Just a guy who likes his idea of creating my personal Martial Art.
Where is the source on that claim?
We have access to far more Combat Sports now than past generations could have ever imagined. I remember when The Ultimate Fighting Championship was bought lock, stock and barrel for $6,000,000 in 1993. How much was it bought for in the last couple of years $4,000,000,000+? Talk about a Return on Investment. There are Professional Leagues around the world in just about every Discipline you can imagine. If Bruce Lee were growing up now, there is no telling how many disciplines he would have learned, how many he would teach and he would be in a position to potentially make millions of dollars whether Actor, Training, Promoter, you name it.
Here is him fighting for real

Im not saying hes the greatest fighter of all time or that he could beat ali. But he did have some competitive experience
And Zabit the ufc fighter would disagree that kung fu is bs. Kung fu is pretty much Chinese for martial arts its not a specific style there are many, SOME are bs
got passed over by some of the students from the kids' class in your dojo's black belt qualifications again..... huh?
Bruce Lee had many qualities that have impressed people for generations. Most people are only familiar with his movies, his association with Asian martial arts, and he his death at a very young age. Lee was blessed with exceptional speed. But he also had terrible eye sight. Lee is well known for his Jeet Kune Do which suggested "no style" and "do what you need to do to win". Many other famous people, like Steve McQueen, studied with Lee.
Lee was an advocate of many things beyond martial arts. He liked body building, boxing, and he was an exceptional shot with a handgun (when he had his glasses on). You're correct, in a boxing ring, with boxing rules, Ali would have smashed him. But in an octagon, with MMA rules, Lee would likely have joint-locked Ali in to submission.
We'll never know how well Bruce Lee would have fared against today's best fighters, but one thing I can say for sure is that he was in "better physical condition" than the vast majority of all people who have ever walked the Earth. Pound-for-pound, Bruce Lee was one of the strongest people who ever lived. At a body weight of 132 lbs, Bruce Lee could hold a 120-lb barbell at shoulder-level for a full 10 seconds. There is not a strength athlete alive today who could hold "91 percent of their body weight at shoulder-level" for even 5 seconds. Bruce Lee's punches and kicks carried the same amount of force as a heavyweight kickboxer's, but he would be considered a "bantam weight" in today's UFC.
Why do people continue to beat this question to death.
Besides the fact he did have an actual fight with jackman
Because he had so much skill and talent!
Bruce had many attributes one of them was his charisma ..no charisma no acting career ...think of Bruce like you would a cobra...lightining fast strikes with reflexes to match ...deadly combination ..in other words he was a genetic freak of nature
He would never be the best fighter of all time. There’s always somebody better.
I liked his death touch concept, which was inflated and over glorified with fantasy and magical powers. Pretty much, Bruce Lee was a right handed South paw fighter, (unorthodox). The idea is to practice having the fastest, most powerful jab punch possible. You see, the Jab, by and large, is the most difficult offensive move to block. If you could make your jab deadly, you would indeed be among the greatest fighters in the world. It isn't enough tho, as like I said, it's one of the most difficult "offensive" moves to block, defense, is a whole other ballgame.
Because of his fierce competitiveness
You should watch the YouTube video about his life.
The greatest fighter of all time was Tristan Rhodesia. His Karate, Taekwando, Kung Fu and Judo skills were second to none.
