What year did veganism become 'mainstream'?

It's not mainstream for me. I'm an omnivore.
That assumes it is mainstream. Statistically, it isn't.
95% of people eat meat. And half the people I talk to still don't know exactly what a vegan is or eats.
I don't think it's "mainstream" yet.
If I understand "mainstream" correctly, it hasn't yet. There are still too many people who are not only NOT vegans, but they are biased against us.
But veganism is trending upwards. Not so much in the US but in Europe we have seen some pretty significant upticks.
I don't have enough data to extrapolate but Vegans might become a significant minority in 2 or 3 years.
Vegans are a rare race of people that think they are better then you.
