Philosophy: Are you oppressed by society and its rules?

I'm 21 from NC, in a conservative town, I have defied society lately, I have dyed my hair blue and I usually paint my nails black and wear black clothing. I am even willing now to tell everyone about my sexual orientation without caring what they think about me. What's your philosophy about society and its rules?

Overall, I recommend that you follow the path of least resistance. You aren't doing that. I get it. You're very young and have to "test the waters" so to speak, but you are going to learn the hard way that if you want to be noticeably different, then life IS going to be noticeably harder. The choice is up to you but I prefer a low key existence myself.

Yes I am. I am from Asia and it is filled with suppressing rules and cultures, which should be eliminated.

God is real and you are living a life he's not pleased with. I don't care if you think God is real or not, He IS real and he is no fan of blue hair, black nails, LGBT etc. Your problem is not with society, it is with the Creator of the universe and if you go against him you do so to your own detriment...you "kick against the pricks" as it were. I say this as somebody who hated Christians, as someone who was not raised Christian, as someone who was a philosophy major in college, and as someone who went down virtually every major non-Christian spiritual path there is. God is real, Jesus died for your sins...just accept Him as your savior and forget about your life of unintentional rebellion against him.

No, I have followed my own path in life, I am a misfit, people have called me weird and I say "thank you" when they do. I don't want or need to fit in. I am true to myself regardless of Society's rules. At 63 it has worked for me very well.

Hello. I'm a dedicated Christian and I live by Jesus' teachings and Bible principles. One of them is found at 1 Corinthians 10:31 - “Whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.”
God’s glory is made manifest through the honor or praise that is given him. One’s conduct can cause others to ‘give glory to God .

What do you want, applause? Everybody is different. Not everybody feels they have to shove their differences in everybody else's face and demand praise for it.

You are not oppressed. You are just a whiny, selfish, attention-whore.
