Toltec gods, I would expect.

They believed in Quetzlcoatl and Tezcatlipoca (aka Smoking Mirror). Quetzlcoatl was a referred to as a feathered serpent and was basically in charge of good things, while Smoking Mirror was in charge of bad things. There were several other, less prominent gods, too.

It's not clear if you're asking about the Toltec gods being born in the wrong place/time, or about the Toltec themselves, but the questions doesn't make much sense in either case. The Toltecs moved into the Valley of Mexico from the desert northwest in the 900s C.E., and became the principle inheritors of the preceding societies (the Olmec, the Teotihuacan, and the Maya). They held sway for 200-250 years, before giving way to the Aztec society. (This was essentially one big, sporadic civilisation that manifested itself, with a few "dark ages", across the region for over 2500 years). In that context, the Toltec were neither too early or too late, nor in the wrong place. They just took their turn and played their role.
