Never!
War is the product of humanities ego and the desire to get whatever it wants at the expense of others.
No, it is not. War are men fighting for territories. There’s a lot of victims, women would never fight for territories. Killing billions of innocent life just so they could have a larger land, this is what war is, why is started.
This is a poem from the book (Finding Identity) I am reading, it talks a bit about the caring of power by men

Wars are a racket. They are and always have been about money.
No evil is necessary. But sometimes war is justified, and therefore is not an evil in those cases.
The current Catechism of the Catholic Church (para. 2309) defines the four conditions that must be met in order for a war to be just as:
1. the damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
2. all other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
3. there must be serious prospects of success;
4. the use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated.
These are hard conditions to fulfill, and with good reason: The Church teaches that war should always be the last resort.
It is evil, but unnecessary. It shows how primitive the human race is.
NO...GOD WILL TURN WEAPONS INTO PRUNING HOOKS.
An inevitable evil perhaps, given the sinful nature of humans.
"Evil" is already necessary..only way to know what love is when we get there...{love is life eternal that has no other side to itself so we cannot begin there. evil is given first because if we do that at the end now..then its done..the whole time is then that one side done and those evil at the end only return to good only remains [the whole 1-6 was evil if its done at the end now..because he already made us sinners behind at the first half..Moses was the great whore [who re] "war" means "are way' back from where it came.
It actually could be so if you look at all the alternatives.
NO, only as a last option. diplomacy is the first defense. Wars are consider unrighteous and wicked by Jesus,
but in considering the salvation of Israel, war becomes self defense when a nation will not listen to diplomacy. There is a time for war and a time to kill. but when murder is talked about it should never be done. and shedding innocent blood is also decreed as a sin unto death.
You can't coexist with people who want to kill you, when negotiations fail, war that s imminent.
No. GOD has a wonderful purpose for humans. He created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, to live in a beautiful garden. His purpose was for them to have children, to make the whole earth a paradise, and to take care of the animals.—Genesis 1:28; 2:8, 9, 15
Do you think that we will ever live in a paradise? Jehovah tells us: “I have purposed it, and I will also carry it out.” (Isaiah 46:9-11; 55:11) Yes, he will do what he has purposed, and nothing will stop him. Jehovah says that he created the earth for a reason. He “did not create it simply for nothing.” (Isaiah 45:18) He wants people to live all over the earth. What kind of people does God want to live here, and for how long? The Bible says: “The righteous [or, obedient] will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.”—Psalm 37:29; Revelation 21:3, 4.

If you think it is, it will seem to be. I know it not to be necessary because love replaces it.
It would be much better if we could all just get along and play nice. But at any given point in human history, there are at least 3 wars raging somewhere in the world. And it's not just restricted to humans, either. For example, there are ant colonies that have been fighting epic wars for centuries.
Is it necessary? Probably not. Is it in our nature. I think so.
It's definitely evil but it's not necessary at all. As the saying goes, war is the failure of diplomacy.
No, it is unnecessary evil.
