How to get patches of dried glue out of a fleece blanket?

I received a free sherpa/fleece blanket for making a purchase, didn't expect the quality to be great as it was free but it turns out the blanket is actually decent quality and very soft. The only issue is that there are several patches of hard glue in the fleece. I tried bringing it back to the store but the blankets are no longer in stock. I want to try and save this blanket, but I'm worried if I wash it I'll ruin the blanket. Any recommendations for getting the glue out?

What kind of glue? Some glues can come out in washing and scrubbing. Others, you would have to cut out.

Depends on what kind of glue it is. Super glue isn’t going to come out. But white glue, like Elmer’s, should come out in the wash. Washing fleece will not hurt it

Washing it should not harm it, soak for a while first, if it is water based glue it should come out. Drying it has more risk than washing, just air dry hanging up is safest.

1. rinse fleece in water
2. scrub until softens soap
3. put nail polisher or dilluted acetone (straight could discolor) in brush
4. keep brushing
5. treat with stain remover and wash as normal

I have never heard of fleece that is ruined by washing. Try that first. If there are care instructions on the blanket, follow those. Otherwise, use cold water and don't tumble dry it unless you are sure the glue is gone because heat may make it set for good. If that doesn't work, there are solvents that can remove glue--google 'how to remove glue from fabric--or you can use some scissors and cut the glue off.

Try ironing the glue out. Put several layers of paper towels both under and over the glue spot, then press down with a hot iron for several seconds. Then quickly remove the towels while the glue is still soft. The glue should have transferred to the towels. You may need to repeat the process.

Simple solution. Take an ice cube and hold it on the glue. Let it freeze. Once frozen just break it off.
