As a star wars fan, how do i get into Star Trek?

I'd recommend watching the series AND movies in chronological order
(that is to say: in the order they were released).
Also: the animated series (which has horrible animation but excellent, thought brief, stories.)

TOS was great in its day - head and shoulders above even Lost in Space (which was a great family-oriented series that ended up concentrating more on humor than serious themes...and did the humor well).

A lot of people love Next Generation better than TOS...and vice versa. I'm like TOS better. IMO Next Generation had several boring characters, and they spent several episodes showcasing those boring characters. Not so with TOS, all of the characters that were showcased were great, interesting.

Voyager and Deep Space Nine - not great, but worth watching. Some interesting characters, but overall
- DS9 - lack of exploration, "discovering new worlds", bored me
- Voy - too much Borg, but loved the doctor character

Enterprise - gets really good, but not until the second season. My favorite of all the series.

Start by going back in time to before you started.  You can't start now because you are already halfway through.  Set your phaser to stun.  And engage the photon torpedoes.  Wait to beam up.  Prepare for warp 7.

All you really need to know is that there were three seasons, and the third season was by far the worst.
