Should I feel guilty ?

I’m 22 and been living in New York for a year now. In New York I have my dad , grandma , and uncles aunts cousins. I lived in Georgia with my mom and stepdad and siblings . I actually came to New York at first to mostly accompany my grandma on her flight since she was visiting Georgia . But I ended up coming back to New York with her . I haven’t gone back to Georgia since . I left Georgia because I wanted to and I didn’t really want to live in Georgia because it got old and I grew up there for the last 11 years. As you get older you choose what you want to do with your life . My mom chose her life by being with my stepdad and growing up with her kids. Now I’m 22 and I’m not financially stable but I’m getting there. Plus I am thankful for one of my uncles and his girlfriend who I consider a friend. We all help eachother out in some way. But honestly I wouldn’t really see myself in Georgia to live there fully . But I would go and visit. My mom is coming to New York for the holidays and she is trying to convince me to go back. What do I do?

You are an adult and capable of choosing where you want to live without justifying your reasons.

What do you do? You just told us that 'as you get older you choose what you want to do with your life', right? So there you go; you're older now, YOU choose what you want to do with YOUR LIFE. Sound about right?

Tell her you have decided to make New York your home, but thank you for the offer. And if you miss her, tell her?

It’s your life. Your mom might attempt to persuade you to go back, but it’s your decision, not hers.

Live where you want, and be realistic about your prospects going forward.
