Audi a3 year 2003 split hose what is it?

It's a 1.6 Audi a3 found this hose split so I joined them up together. As I follow the bottom hose down it seems split at where it enters the engine or whereever it is going 😂 any idea to what this hose is for?  And also trying to locate the egr valve to clean it any help to where that is too. Thank you.

Since you don't know the difference between a split hose and wiring harness protective cover perhaps you should quit playing mechanic before you break something or get hurt!

The vertically split “hose” is not a hose.

It’s a flexible protective conduit for electrical wiring which is inside. The spilt makes it easy to apply to the wiring bundle and allows individual wires to enter and exit anywhere along the length.

If you’re referring to something else in your photo then I cannot see any other splits, but split hoses should ALWAYS be replaced and  any repairs should be viewed as emergency short-term fixes only as they will fail again.

One question per question encourages more replies: I can’t answer your second question about the EGR valve as I’m unfamiliar with your car model. I strongly suggest that you edit this question to delete the mention of the EGR valve and to then post that as a totally separate question.
