What god did people believe in before your god was invented?

In Europe, they believed in the several Greek gods (which were later given Latin names when Rome came about). In Asia, there were miscellaneous gods (and some countries still do).

But today, it's established that no gods exist.

Mainly, they believed in deities that controlled the elements of nature, such as wind, water, rain, crop growth, etc. Those deities later got upgraded to gods, who did the same jobs as the deities before. Later, the gods got reduced due to layoffs, and it was all put onto single overworked god, who had to rely on assistants like angels and devils to carry out all of his tasks. The end.

My God wasn’t invented.

Humans personified nature as deities: the sun, death, hurricanes, winter.

So many........ A cat god, a rat god, a rabbit god. Anything you want!

I was "invented" by God, not the other way around.

They believed in any number of false gods and idols.

False "gods", before the one true God revealed Himself to humanity.

My ancestors worshiped the Norse gods before Christianity replaced them by decree of the King.

(Wikipedia). The Moabites and the Ammonites had different gods.  It should be obvious that people back then just imagined gods and passed them off as real.

Our God wasn't invented but rather he is the creator. If he was invented, I'n pretty sure you would not be here.

They didn't. Archaeologists have already determined that the Great Mother is the oldest being anyone has ever worshipped.

We all were created by God, left Him and heaven as the Prodigal Son did and have made up lots of stories about Him since, even that He doesn't exist.
