Okay. So its my friends birthday. She is a close friend and I am giving her a book, she is a reader, but I don't know. What I should write on the first page of the book, any suggestions?

How about this that my grandma wrote in my autograph book many years ago;-

Never write in a book.
Put a note inside, on a special notelet, but it's a really bad idea to deface the book itself.

Write "Happy Birthday friend's name" Date & year. Some of my books were given to me by my father and the only thing he wrote was my name and Christmas year.
