Because she didn't want it stolen. It had nothing to do with your age or gender. Stop reading things into situations that aren't there. You aren't doing yourself any favors. You really should consider therapy rather than constantly asking questions like this.

I don't hate anyone and I don't spread hate. When I see questions like yours I give blunt answers because I'm not a big fan of sugar coating those who are obsessed with reading between the lines, seeing things that aren't there and self pity.  Two of the three absolutely fit you. The third may not but it varies with your questions. 

If people ask questions that aren't whiny rants, I respond in kind. I don't respond with hate. 

You didn't pay for the water! Maybe she wouldn't have done it to anyone else....so? Stop thinking of things that might happen....reality is enough isn't it?

The young female gas station attendant 'took' your bottle of water until you paid and the sale was completed, so that she could scan the bar code on the bottle into her cash register. 'Scanning' the bottle of water keeps track of inventory; shows that something has been sold and paid for; and prints two receipts - one for the customer and one that the cashier puts into her cash drawer.  That's what happens EVERY TIME you take any item to a cashier. 

I think you are totally overthinking this situation..

Either is standard practice in that shop or she did it without thinking about it.

Would she have done this to another person ?  Who knows

Because she's sick of people walking out without paying.

It's her job to scan the barcode of what you buy.
