That is between you and your vet.  An exam may reveal why he is crying at nite and loosing interest in food..  It may be treatable, it may not be.   Being that he is 16 and also blind, deaf and senile, you may decide its not worth treating either.
There is no right or wrong decision...  I would advise that if you do not euthanize at this time, to at least discuss comfort care with your vet.

Yes. That is one nice thing we can do for our pets that we can not do for each other. If it were a human we would have to let him suffer.

That is your decision.  If you feel the quality of life will not improve with treatment, then kindly put your dog down so it won't be suffering.

Good on you for putting his needs first. I'd be thinking very seriously about it now he's losing his appetite. I'd suggest having a serious talk to your vet about if anything more can be done, and who sort of quality of life he can expect from any options

I would suggest that you get a NEW dog IMMEDIATELY to mitigate any emotions of LOSS. Quality of life sucks for your pup...it is probably time.

Truthfully it doesnt look optimistic. My dog   went the same way as yours, he became deaf, almost blind, incontinent and confused. The vet  advised me to have him euthanised as his quality of life was gone. He was 15.It s  very sad. Getting another puppy helped me to cope with the grief of losing him.

I can honestly feel for you and you are facing one of the hardest decisions you will ever make in your life.  You have to get really tough with yourself and say " what would (name) want" and put your feelings aside.  Do what is best for him and then take care of you.  He deserves it.  I know you love him.    I had to do that once and it was the hardest thing I had ever had to do, even to this day.  If you love your precious dog, think of him.  My heart really goes out to you.

No. Chihuahua Jesus will decide when it's his time to go.
