What could have been the reasons for Chinese websites such as Tmall, Sohu, and Taobao, to suddenly rise during Jun-Aug 2019?

Chinese websites, especially Tmall, Sohu, and Taobao, drastically changed Top Sites ranking by Alexa in very short time (<2 months). They pushed some of the long standing top sites such as Facebook and Wikipedia to lower ranks. For comparison, in the respective order of June, July, August,September, October 2019, rankings of, Tmall; 11-5-3-4-3, Sohu; 16-8-6-6-7, Qq; 6-6-5-5-5, Facebook; 3-3-7-7-6, Wikipedia; 5-8-10-8-9.

It might be related to the extradition bill protests in Hong Kong. The extradition bill protests in Hong Kong altered the views of many mainlanders. They were told by the government that what happens is happening in Hong Kong is exactly like what happened in the Tiananmen Square incident. This decreases their will to break free of the Chinese Internet Firewall. They started to join Chinese websites and abandon their accounts on Facebook and Wikipedia. And this results in the sudden rise of these Chinese websites.
