1) Let F – resultant force on the blockFrom ΔBPQ, - - - - - - - - - - (as shown in diagram below)
F² = 5² + 5² - 2(5)(5) cos30⁰
= 50- 50cos30⁰
= 50-50(√3/2)
∴ F=6.699 (to 4 sig.fig.)
2) F=ma
6.699 = 2a
∴ a = 6.699/2 = 3.35 ms⁻²
