為何放棄台灣海峽.為何犧牲西部沿海.?

There are 2 major reasons:

1. Political - due the tension between Mainland and Taiwan, Taiwan's West Coast is generally considered as the frontline against the Mainland (in addition to the Outlying Islands).

2. Environmental/Economical - the majority of Taiwan's West Coast are wetlands. Developing them is not only costly, but also can do more harms than good.

為什麼認為台灣放棄台灣海峽，犧牲西部沿海?
如果真的放棄台灣海峽，那麼命名裡也不會有台灣兩個字
另外，台灣大部分的港口、漁港皆設置在西部沿海，因為東部幾乎都是山壁，無法建造港口
