I'm afraid, sir, that that will need to be worked out by your doctor.

Metformin, which is a biguanide, and Glipizide, which is a sulphonylurea, work in very different ways.

Metformin inhibits production of glucose by the liver; inhibits absorption of glucose through the walls of the intestines; and MAY lessen insulin resistance.

Glipizide works by stimulating the beta cells of your pancreas to produce more insulin, which is required to 'transport' glucose from the bloodstream into the body's cells, where it is used to create energy, thereby keeping you alive.

In that respect, neither is "better" than the other.

Your doctor MAY well suggest that you take both Metformin AND Glipizide when s/he has assessed your level of insulin resistance.

Edit:

It seems that some idiot, that knows no better, is offering thumbs down again. I pity that person's lack of intelligence and understanding of diabetes.

What does your Doctor say? That one is the best.

Glipizide and metformin are effective oral antidiabetics that can help lower blood sugar. ... While glipizide enhances insulin secretion, metformin decreases glucose production in the liver. Both drugs have similar side effects although glipizide has a notably higher risk of hypoglycemia.
