How can I get my photos to look like this?

I am looking for the best settings/filters to edit my photos in this style? Where it looks quite cinematic and the black/shadows are a bit more defined?

Hope you know what I'm talking about!

There are a few different photo-editing software that will produce this look. A lot of them are high-dynamic range (HDR) software such as Photomatix.

The look is generated by darkening the blacks and/or shadows in the image. This is a way of increasing the contrast without affecting the brighter tones. Then there's clarity. Clarity is a slider used to adjust the local contrast. Each brand of software uses a different name, but they all do roughly the same thing.

Just be careful in adjusting your work to look like the posted photo. This look should be used in only specific situations where the look accentuates the narrative of the photo. For example, the look would be appropriate for a guy covered in grime working on an oil rig, but completely inappropriate for someone working in a clean room or lab.

Raise contrast and probably lower saturation just a bit? You do however must get an excellently exposed shot beforehand.

Turn the contrast up to 11.

It depends what software you are using. On my mac I just click a few things and make a couple of adjustments to improve photos. I would tone down the yellow slightly and play around with it until it looks good.
