What are the best product for lighting a room with no lights in it?

We moved into a place in New England. An old place. The bedrooms have no lights in them. So how can we light them up? We tried some lamps, but the room is still always them except for the corner of the room that has the lamp. I could fill the room with lamps, but that would be annoying. Is there a certain kind of light that’s easy to use for this?

Uplighters. Either as free standing units or wall sconces.

You cannot light an area if you do not have a source of energy.

Bigger lamps, or at least lamps that can take bigger bulbs. You didn't say what kind of lamp you have used. Some are meant to direct light on a relatively small area, some are meant to diffuse light over a larger area. It really isn't hard to tell which is which when you look at a lamp. A lamp that can direct light upwards can make a big difference as long as the ceiling is light coloured.

I have never heard that anyone is anyone is annoyed by lamps.Try big lamps. Ceiling lights give off such a bad light.

there are push lights sometimes called uplights, just go to the hardware store and ask.

In a bedroom it is good to have two levels of lighting. One being a brighter light, typically a ceiling fixture. But, if you cannot do the electrical work for the ceiling light, then you can buy a light that plugs in and has a chain to hang it from the ceiling. In addition to that, you will most likely want a light(s) on the end table/night stands that are not as bright as the overhead light.

Task lighting is good to have so you can have the light you need in a specific area, as in for reading or desk work. With a dimmer light also available, that is really all you need.

I recently bought a light outlet cover that has three LED lights that go on when it gets dark outside. This is a prefect light for navigating through a room at night. Well worth the ten dollars. All you do is screw it in place of the regular outlet cover...easy peasey.

Sure. But unless I know how big (and high) the room is, where the possible power conenctions are and what kind of light you actually want, it's pretty hard to give any kind of recommendation.

Plus: bedrooms without even windows? Move your bed to a different room, that room needs air!

You could look into wall lamps instead of table lamps. A few well placed wall lamps can give more light around the room.

There might be options for ceiling lights that mount to the ceiling but then have a cord (usually in a decorative chain) that goes to the wall. This is a great option for older houses that lack the electrical lines for installing ceiling lights.

call a handyman or contractor and have them install a light on the ceiling. It may cost around $200- $500 depending on your area
