Is there an acid or other chemical that can 'eat' through plastic?
I just have some playing cards that have a 'gold' foil on them and the card itself is a super-thin plastic. Just trying to find a way to separate the two. Thanks to all...

Acetone, which you can find in most nail polish removers, will dissolve plastic.
But I'm inclined to think that your "gold" is metalized Mylar, which is also a plastic. The acetone will attack that, too.
Extreme heat will melt most plastics and cause thermoset plastics to decompose.
