I wanna be a funeral director and I have seen bodies before and people do pass on everyday. I was told you cant get work anywhere these days unless you wanna work in funerals or in aged care but I prefer to work in funerals though. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

People are certainly dying to use their services. I knew there would be dying jokes on here.

yes even my parents who run a funeral home are still hiring if you want to be a funeral director you'll need to go to mortuary school though but there still are ones to hire you.

Most funeral companies are run by families and they rarely employ people outside of the family.

Even if you could find a company willing to take you on as an apprentice, they're very careful about who they employ.
You'd have to be intelligent, mature, have a clean record, well-educated, well-presented, very tactful and have a sympathetic manner.
You'd have to be able to learn laying out, embalming, dressing the corpses and doing really good make-up and hair for them, as well as dealing with the grieving families. There's always a ton of paperwork to deal with, so you'd need to be very good at completing them and dealing with various authorities.
They prefer older employees.

And there are thousands of jobs which are easier to get than one in a funeral company!

It's a dying trade.

You need training. Do you know how to use a trocar? Could you glue eyes shut? Drain the blood and put in the proper color embalming fluid? You need training. Otherwise you could drive a hearse and pick up bodies or do sales and show coffins.
