That will be largely clawed back when you end up paying more for goods after the tariff (taxes) kick in when the taxed goods hit the retailers.

nope, I actually paid more on less earning because my state taxes went up and are not deductible

And everyone who used the standard deduction before the new law and then used it again after the law got a tax cut, it weould be impossible not to, and that is roughly 85% of the population. Some who live in high tax states who itemize did psy more but that's less then 10% of the population. Getting a lower refund does not mean you paid more taxes, just means you had less withheld each chedck

Yes. And my current withholding is lower than it was last year.
