Stitches woundcare?

I have dissolveable stitches on the underside of my glans to my scrotum- it was done 5 days ago. How can I help prevent scarring? I've heard using petroleum jelly helps but I seem to dissolve the stitches before the wound is sealed so I dont want to use it. How long should it take for it to finish healing? Any tips? Any on resolving a seroma?
Yes, I realise I can contact my doctor but I wont get an answer back for up to a week.

Soluble stitches were originally designed for use deep inside the body where there is a good supply of lymph-borne enzymes to dissolve them.

On the surface there is a much smaller lymph supply, so they may dissolve much more slowly than they should.

The stitches will have done their job in 7-10 days, so you should remove them after 10-12 days to avoid stitch tunnels (you can do it yourself or get the doctor to do it for you).

Note that ONLY natural enzymes will dissolve the stitches. Water, petroleum jelly, etc will NOT do so.

Why are you bothered about a scar. Who are you going to show your parts to? A female won't care. Stop stressing about something so minor covered by your pants.

Google "seroma"

Considering that is not likely, I wouldn't worry about it. It's just not likely to happen.
